Telia Mobilsurf

Telia, headquartered in Sweden, is one of the leading telecoms operators in Denmark.

One of its key target audiences is the ‘young ‘ and ‘private customer’ sector. While a large number of customers already used their mobile device to surf the Internet, Telia wanted to grow this number by running a campaign focused on upgrading more subscribers to ‘Fri Surf’. To achieve this, Telia enlisted the help of Mobiletech and Media|works to create a mobile solution.

The solution targeted a group of customers with sms messages that encouraged users to upgrade their subscription by clicking on an embedded link. This took customers to a site with relevant information about the package and pricing, and customers were able to confirm just by clicking a button. This instantly prompted Telia’s customer service team to upgrade the user’s subscription.

The result was impressive. 10,000 push SMS messages saw a click rate of 75 percent. 11 percent – that is 1,100 customers – upgraded their subscription resulting in additional revenues of DKr 775,000.
