MMA EXPANDS REACH TO HUNGARY, DENMARK, FINLAND, ICELAND, NORWAY AND SWEDEN

Launches Local Councils in Hungary and Nordic States; Elects Chairs

New York, London, UK, Singapore & Sao Paulo: October, 2010
– The MMA (Mobile Marketing Association) announced the launch of new Local Councils in Hungary and the Nordics at its MMA Forum in London. The launches are a reflection of the growing recognition across the markets of the importance of mobile within the marketing mix, and the need for industry support and guidance to create success. The establishment of the Councils also represents further evidence of the MMA’s focus on providing local relevance for its members, as well as regional actions and a global perspective.

“The MMA is glad to be able to respond to the demands of mobile marketing communities throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa for local focus with the establishment of relevant action-orientated councils,” said Paul Berney, MMA CMO and EMEA MD. “The MMA’s membership levels across EMEA are now at record levels and with plans for the creation of an East African hub as well, we are set for further expansion.”

With 10 members at launch in Hungary and 11 across the Nordics, and the expectation of doubling membership within twelve months, both councils will focus on applying the MMA’s new building blocks to promote, educate, measure, guide and protect, the markets in their countries. Both new councils have stated that they will lead with particular initial emphasis on promotion and education amongst brands and agencies.

Elected by members to lead MMA Nordics as co-Chairs, Jimmy Nordbeck, Co-founder and Marketing Director of Golden Gekko, and Michael Buch Sandager, CSO of Mobiletech A/S and Managing Director of Mobiletech Denmark, bring significant experience of creating mobile marketing success for a number of leading brands and agencies.

“The founding member companies of MMA Nordics have great experience across a number of different mobile marketing specialties and will use that experience to counter the challenges that face brands and agencies face when approaching mobile for the first time. We will work to make it a lot easier for companies to go mobile and utilise the endless opportunities for consumer engagement,” commented MMA Nordics co-Chair Jimmy Nordbeck.

“In line with the MMA’s building blocks of promotion, education and measurement, we will work to make the mobile marketing landscape across the Nordic states a lot more visible and easy to understand – demonstrating the mobile channel’s potential and contributing to research and metrics,” continued fellow MMA Nordics co-Chair Michael Buch Sandager.

As Chairman of the Hungarian Mobile Marketing and Content Industry Association, Krisztián Tóth will help lead the conversion of the Association to become MMA Hungary. The transition became the obvious route to follow once the wide range of synergies and opportunities for cooperation between the two organizations was realized.

“We have already been working on a number of initiatives to create a strong local presence ahead of launch,” stated MMA Hungary Chairman Krisztián Tóth. “I am looking forward to collaborating closely with all the Hungarian members to bring the MMA’s global leadership and regional knowledge to bear on local activity to create an even more productive and successful mobile marketing industry for all.”

Hungary and the Nordics join the list of already established councils in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, India, the Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Vizrt Escenic and Mobiletech Join Forces to Simplify Publishing to Mobile Devices

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

PRESS RELEASE

Bergen, Norway, April 7, 2010 Vizrt Ltd. (Oslo Main List: VIZ)

As cell phone technology improves and more people rely on their phones for access to a variety of information, the problem of formatting that information has increased. Web pages must look good on both a full size computer screen and on the small screen of a mobile device. Traditionally, this process has required a significant amount of extra work for a publisher.

Vizrt, based in Bergen, Norway, offers software for Web publishing and content management, and has teamed up with  Mobiletech, another company based in Bergen, Norway and one of its preferred partners for mobile content delivery, to provide a simple process to modify Web content so that it will display properly on all devices. At the center of this technology is the Escenic Content Engine, a high-performance content management platform, which now has an add-on that lets users easily publish content to both the Web and mobile devices without having to worry about picture size, fonts or how the layout will look on a specific device.

The Escenic Mobile Solution, a complete, cross-channel content management system, handles text, images, video and audio to create a mobile Web site optimized for each device.

Mobiletech will join Vizrt in booth SL5408 at NAB2010 in Las Vegas. They will have demonstrations of Escenic Mobile Solution on multiple mobile devices, along with a demonstration of the Mobile Widget Pack, an extension of Escenic Mobile Solution.

“When a URL is requested, the device making this request is analyzed and Escenic Mobile Solution knows whether it is a mobile device, desktop device or tablet,” said Jon Arne Sæterås, product director for Mobiletech. “Then the device is redirected to a mobile optimized site, and Escenic Mobile Solution chooses the optimal presentation template.”

It’s easy to create one layout for the Internet and another for mobile devices. The content can be the same for both types of displays, or it can be modified to make viewing easier.

Based on templates, the Escenic Mobile Solution provides scalability and flexibility. It also eliminates the need to create different content for different devices. It contains a database with information for more than 10,000 mobile devices and is constantly being expanded to include new mobile products. “It’s often updated before new devices go on sale,” said Christian Løverås, business development manager for Escenic.

The database provides a device filter and template configuration, which makes the content and layout ‘device-aware.’ The user concentrates on creating content and the Escenic Mobile Solution takes care of the formatting for all devices. It will optimize and format pages to support the full capabilities of the viewing devices using the configuration data for each device.

An included template and a widget toolkit allow developers to create more advanced features on the mobile Web site. To further enhance mobile content, the Escenic Mobile Solution contains functions for filtering content, image conversion and markup optimization.

TNS Gallup announces that it will now start measuring the use of the mobile internet by …

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

(Oslo, July 24th 2008) TNS Gallup announces that it will now start measuring the use of the mobile internet by launching TNS Mobile in Norway.

Use of internet via mobile phone is rapidly increasing and content and service providers are continuing to create new and improved services specifically designed for the mobile internet. To measure the growth of this market, TNS Gallup has introduced a common currency to measure user behaviour across participating mobile internet sites.

TNS Gallup has made an agreement with Norwegian Media Businesses’ Association, to start providing the measurement of mobile internet usage. The agreement will come into action during summer 2008 and official site traffic will be published from August 2008. The traffic reports will be based on a combined solution from Mobiletech and TNS Gallup. Mobiletech is behind the technology which collects raw data while TNS Gallup analyses and reports on the data. The data is collected from the mobile handset, and the mobile operators’ own network systems. The technology measures the content that the user has actually seen, which makes the measurement very reliable. The data collected is independent of operator, the end user’s handset and other technological platforms and infrastructure.

- Members of the Norwegian Media Businesses’ Association have been leaders in developing user friendly mobile services. However a reliable measurement of the mobile internet has not been available up until now.  This agreement with TNS Gallup will give us reliable numbers that can be compared across a number of media assets, so we are very happy that the numbers are going to be published, says Geir Engen, Manager Digital Media, Norwegian Media Businesses’ Association.

- TNS Gallup is proud to be the first to publish traffic data based on this technology. The mobile phone is becoming an increasing important tool to access the internet. The biggest content providers have now established a common currency. This is important for more and more companies choosing to advertise on the mobile internet. TNS Gallup and Mobiletech have succeeded in making a high quality solution in response to demand from the market, says Gudbrand Jevne, General Manger TNS Gallup.

- We have long seen the need for accurate measurement of mobile internet usage and we believe the common currency will have a positive impact on media companies, advertisers and end users. The measurement system is based on technology developed internally by Mobiletech and is more accurate than solutions available up until now. Norway is on the forefront in the development of the mobile internet and this collaboration between  the media companies, TNS Gallup and Mobiletech is strengthening this position, says Espen Askvik, CEO Mobiletech.

Red Herring’s lists of top private companies are an important part of the company’s tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring’s editorial staff rigorously evaluated more than hundreds of private companies through a careful analysis of financial data and subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development.

”Winning this prestigious award just two weeks after being named the most innovative player in the Nordic digital content arena by winning Telenor’s Digital Winners Award 2008, is great acknowledgement of our work. It inspires us to continue our efforts to move boundaries by making useful tools for our customers and user friendly solutions to let consumers enjoy rich and rewarding mobile services”, says Espen Askvik, CEO of Mobiletech.

To honor the CEOs of Red Herring top 100 Europe companies, Red Herring has invited each CEO to present his or her company at its Red Herring Europe 2008 event. Mobiletech awarded Telenor Digital Winner Prize 2008 for mobile innovation

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Mobiletech wins the Telenor Digital Winners prize 2008!

Mobiletech awarded Telenor Digital Winner Prize for mobile innovation
(Fornebu, 28 March, 2008) The Norwegian software company Mobiletech has won the Telenor Digital Winner Prize. The prize, worth NOK 250,000, has been awarded to the company for supplying innovative solutions that encourage the use of the mobile Internet.

The formal prize-giving took place yesterday evening in connection with the Digital Winners seminar which is arranged by Telenor and World Association of Newspapers (WAN) in Telenor’s headquarters at Fornebu.

Mobiletech, which employs 25, won the prize for its unique publishing system that makes it easy for content providers to publish, show and invoice content directly to their customers.

Berit Svendsen, chairman of the jury for the Digital Winner Prize together with Espen Askvik, the CEO of Mobiletech.

“We are awarding this Nordic prize because we want to encourage our content partners to develop services that are even more user-friendly, new and innovative. We have been impressed by Mobiletech’s work to promote the mobile Internet; they are a force for innovation in the content market,” says Berit Svendsen, chairman of the jury for the Digital Winner Prize and VP, Head of Product and IS, in Telenor Norway.

In its assessment, the jury was especially impressed by how user-friendly Mobiletech’s solutions are and how well users have taken to them. The jury also liked that Mobiletech’s products encourage customers and content providers to use digital channels in a new and innovative way.

There were many good candidates and following intense discussions they were left with three finalists. The two other finalists were the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) and the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR). NRK was nominated for Rubenmann, which was the first Norwegian TV series created exclusively for the mobile. DR was nominated for its DR Update service, an innovative news channel that embraces several access technologies.

“Telenor wants to encourage the use of digital channels such as mobile phones, TV and the Internet. New services must be user-friendly if they are to be used. Services launched before they are thoroughly tested with end users are seldom profitable, neither for Telenor nor the suppliers,” says Berit Svendsen.

The prize was presented during a two-day seminar hosted by WAN and Telenor, and the programme continues on Friday, with international speakers, with companies such as Google, Nokia, Adobe and Warner Music being represented.
